Hyundai Motor Deutschland, based in Offenbach, has been a 100 percent-owned subsidiary of the South Korean Hyundai Motor Company since 2012. German sales totalled 101,522 vehicles in 2013, equivalent to 3.4 percent of the market. This makes Hyundai the second-strongest import brand in the country; indeed, Hyundai Motor Group now ranks among the top five car manufacturers worldwide.
Customers endorse Hyundai as an attractive design coupled with high quality and excellent price/benefit ratio. The portfolio of models is wide and varied, ranging from the Hyundai New Generation i10 city car and the compact i30 to the ix35 SUV “Cityroader” and the medium-sized i40 Tourer. There is also a Veloster sports coupé/hatchback and the rugged H-1 Cargo van. The five-year warranty package with unlimited mileage is unique.
Nearly 95 percent of all vehicles sold in Europe are designed, built and tested at the European Research, Development & Design Centre in Rüsselsheim. Around 90 percent of these models are also assembled at the brand’s plants in the Czech Republic and Turkey.
The brand is committed to international football, as FIFA and UEFA Main Sponsor. It is no less engaged as a long-term partner of Caritas in Germany, and in the context of the Europe-wide Hyundai schools project “Skills for the future.” Hyundai is also active in motor sport and is making its debut in the World Rally Championship with the Hyundai i20 WRC. In Germany, the racing version of the Hyundai Veloster Turbo, a near relative of the production model, will be on the starting grid at the VLN Endurance Championship, thus competing again in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
